Lake Rawlings continues to upgrade our facility to provide better service to you. If you have not visited recently we hope that you will be pleasantly surprised.
Lake Rawlings is a great place to just get away and dive and the upgrades have provided more assembly space for dive buddies or large groups making your visit here a more pleasurable experience.
Regardless of reason for enjoying our facility we would like to remind everyone that this is a great place to practice your skills which help prevent underwater problems that can cascade into disaster. Ask yourself, when is the last time you and your dive buddy practiced an Out Of Air (OOA) drill? Checked your SAC rate and planned a dive accordingly, not just turn around pressure? These things will not only help you become a more comfortable diver but can prevent OOA situations.
DAN reminds us that with a few simple procedures OOA conditions can almost be eliminated.
- Maintain awareness, and follow established procedures.
- Know how much air you may need in various situations and at various depths, know youe SAC.
- Perform a predive check - every time.
- Monitor your pressure gauge every few minutes.
- Stay near your dive buddy. If needed, use your buddy's alternate air source for an ascent.
- Carry a true, redundant alternate air source for possible air-sharing.
- Follow a strict policy of returning to the boat or the surface with air in your tank.
Say you don't know your SAC. Stop by the dive shack and we can show you what to do.
Please note that construction on the pavilions and other areas continues as we improve our infrastructure so please watch your step until we are finished.
See you at the lake!!
