Course Description:
The PADI Open Water Diver Weekend Course is divided into three segments:
Academic, Confined Water and Open Water. Our program also separates the academic and confined water sessions into five modules. This modular approach presents specific knowledge and skill information so that the diver can safely visit the underwater world and return.  The academic sessions will present basic information to the student about diving equipment, adapting to the underwater world, the diving environment, using the Dive Planner and underwater compass navigation, among other topics.  This is a fun course and is definitely user friendly.

Open Water Dives:
All five open water dives are conducted at Lake Rawlings, VA (near Exit 39, I-85).  These dives will help you improve your diving skills with the open water environment, and will also help you increase your confidence for safe and enjoyable scuba diving.  We strongly encourage the newly certified diver to take the advanced and specialty courses suitable for your interests and needs.

Certification:
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be certified as an Open Water Diver by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). PADI is the world’s largest and most sought after certifying agency in recreational scuba diving.

Instructors:
Errol Duplessis, PADI #MSDT-97608 is a master scuba diving trainer and the course instructor; Dalelynn Sims, PADI 196638 OWSI, Keven Young #238471.  In addition, we use other PADI instructors and assistants in our team approach to teach scuba diving.

Valuables:
Leave your valuables home or in a safe place whenever we use a dive site generally open to the public. Lake Rawlings will not be responsible for any lost or stolen articles or items.

Come Prepared:

DATES
FORMAT
Hmmm  Learning to dive in a pool or Lake Rawlings?  Training agencies require initial scuba classes to be in confined water for many good reasons.  Confined water is defined as that which is similar to a pool environment.  With the 4.5’, 10’ and 15’ platforms at Lake Rawlings you can learn while on a platform at a fixed depth and still enjoy the wonders of nature as the swim by during your training.  Is it any wonder why more and more people are using Lake Rawlings to learn to SCUBA dive?  Once you have completed the confined water session then it’s off to some of our other platforms, some as deep as 55 feet!
